Whole Body Cleanse – What One is and How to Do It
One of the most powerful and effective ways to improve your overall health is through internal cleansing and detoxification. If you’ve done a little bit of research online, you’ll have seen that colon cleansing is the most popular and recommended form of body cleansing. That makes a lot of sense, given that the colon must eliminate 1 – 1.5 kg (2 – 3 lb) of waster per day.
But a whole body cleanse goes beyond just a standard colon cleanse. A good cleanse for the entire body should help clean all 3 major internal organs that the body uses for detoxification. Of course, it should cleanse the colon. In addition it should also support and detox the kidneys and the liver. The kidneys are responsible for purifying the liquids we consume and the liver is responsible for processing all toxic particles within our bodies – so you can imagine that you’ll feel a lot better when they are working well.
Each of these three organs is best purified by a combination of dietary changes, exercise and herbal supplements. Dietary changes involve eating mostly fresh fruits and vegetables, while eliminating junk foods, processed foods and most dairy products and meat. Exercise can be as simple as walking briskly for 15 minutes a day or as involved as committing to a series of yoga or pilates classes. Finally, herbal supplements are used to give each organ the support it needs to rejuvenate itself. The combination of herbs used and the amount of each one is very important and makes all the difference in getting the best cleansing results.
Beyond the internal organs, a whole body cleanse also addresses the skin, which is the largest organ in the body. This is most commonly done through skin brushing or through extensive use of sauna or steam baths.
At minimum a whole body cleanse program should last for 3 days. Ideally, if you’re up for it, you should extend it from 7 to 10 days.
